Paul was born on Long Island New York and raised in Bethpage until Junior High.  During his last year of Junior High, Paul's father, Henry Schwager, accepted a position with Rockwell International (currently United Space Alliance) to work on the Space Shuttle program.

Graduating from Merritt Island High School in 1983, Paul worked for one year before going to Palm Beach Atlantic College in West Palm Beach, where he received a B.A. in Business Administration.  While at PBAC, Paul was involved in Student Government serving as Vice-President for 2 years, Assistant Director of Student Activities for one year and Resident Assistant for two years.  During this time Paul also began working for Autoextras Inc.,  an automotive aftermarket and customization company specializing in SCCA Racing and European automobiles.  After completing his Bachelors Paul continued at Autoextras and was involved in the development of an import and distribution system for Cobra Seats of England.  During this time he married the former Christine Snyder and he began taking classes part-time in pursuit of an MBA at Florida Atlantic University. Before leaving Autoextras/Cobra Seats Paul and Christine were blessed with the birth of their first child Joshua Paul Schwager.

Paul has always enjoyed working with people and computers which has lead to his involvement in small business consulting and computer consulting.  In 1991 Paul joined with Todd Breen in creating ComputerEase, Inc.  a company specializing in setting up and maintaining computer networks for churches and non-profit organizations throughout South Florida.  Paul was involved in all stages of the business from the building of the computers - to pulling and splicing cable - to handling the accounts payable and receivable.  During this time he began working on a network at the Adam Walsh Children's Fund a division of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  His involvement with AWCF eventually led to the creation of new position specifically for Paul.  This full time position allowed Paul the opportunity to complete his MBA at Florida Atlantic University and Paul & Christine were blessed with their second child Kaitlyn Alyse Schwager.  For five years, Paul served as Director of Special Events and Administration at AWCF and was responsible for the day to day operations of the organization as well as increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of fund-raising activities.

Eventually, Paul and his family decided to move to Auburn to allow Paul to continue his education and pursue a Ph.D. in Management - Management of Information Technology and Innovation .  During his years at Auburn he was involved in teaching numerous classes as well as the creation and implementation of the university's first Executive MBA program.

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
Theodore Roosevelt
