“Balance, peace, and joy are the fruit of a successful life. It starts with recognizing your talents and finding ways to serve others by using them.” Thomas Kinkade
My life hasn’t always been in balance, and I continue to work at it. But the most important people in my life (Christine, Joshua, & Kaitlyn) make it easier and more rewarding to continue to work at balance.
It’s All About Relationship
For me, it all begins and ends with relationships. Whether it is family, reading, technology, or college sports, I am always drawn to relationship.
Family
Perhaps my favorite thing is to spend time with my family. We can spend vacations skiing or at the beach. Or we can just hang out and play cards. The best part is just being together.
Reading
Christine and I both spend a fair amount of time reading on a variety of topics. I tend to focus on a theme for a couple of books and then switch. Sometimes it’s personal development, other times leadership, or theology, and occasionally I slip in some fiction. There’s nothing quite like time with the family and reading to put everything into perspective for me.
Technology
I really do enjoy what I do, and much of my work really isn’t work. When not teaching about how to use technology in business I am busy exploring and learning more about it. I have developed several websites in hopes of someday making a couple of extra dollars (sure would be nice to pay down the student loans!), but in all honesty, I just enjoy working with technology.
College Sports
Perhaps it was college sports that made me first consider a career as a college professor. To me, there is nothing quite like a college football, basketball, baseball…you name the sport. The camaraderie and spectacle of the sport are what I enjoy most.
I have more interests, but I will add them later.
